Every modern website needs a crisp, multi–resolution favicon—those tiny icons you see in
browser tabs, bookmarks, mobile home-screen shortcuts, and even Windows desktop tiles.
Our free online favicon generator turns any logo
or image into a complete favicon package in seconds. Upload a PNG, JPG, or BMP file,
and we’ll deliver a ready-to-use ZIP containing an .ico
file, high-resolution
PNGs, and an auto-generated manifest.json
for progressive-web-app support.
No design software, command-line tools, or installer scripts required.
512 x 512 px

HTML snippets for quick integration.
Browsers crop non-square images to make them fit a square canvas, which can leave your logo off-center or introduce unwanted whitespace. For pixel-perfect results, upload a 1:1 image. If your logo isn’t square, use our Image Resizer Tool to crop and center it before generating the favicon. You’ll see an exact preview in the right-hand panel, so you can adjust or retry until it looks perfect at micro-sizes.
Although modern browsers accept PNG favicons,
the .ico
container remains the gold standard because it can
bundle multiple resolutions into a single file (e.g. 16×16,
32×32, 48×48, 64×64). This ensures optimal clarity on
high-DPI screens, old laptop monitors, and Windows desktop shortcuts alike.
Our generator produces a properly formatted favicon.ico
alongside standalone PNGs for devices, Web App Manifest icons, and
apple-touch-icon.png
for iOS home screens.
Favicon real estate is tiny, so simplicity wins:
Intricate illustrations tend to blur when scaled down to
16 x 16
px—consider simplifying or using initials.
Keep it lightweight. Your combined favicon assets should be under 100 KB to avoid blocking the browser’s critical rendering path.
Use transparency wisely. PNG layers with alpha look great on dark-mode tabs and pinned Chrome shortcuts.
Update your HTML head. After downloading the ZIP, copy the
suggested <link rel="icon">
and
<link rel="apple-touch-icon">
tags into your website’s
<head>
section. Most CMS platforms let you paste them
in a custom “header” field or theme settings panel.
Not yet—animated favicons require GIF or APNG files and have spotty cross-browser support. We focus on universal compatibility.
Files up to 5 MB are accepted. Larger files only slow down processing; try resizing before upload for a smoother experience.
Absolutely. Save the original design file, make changes, and run it through the generator again—each package is created on-the-fly with fresh cache-busting filenames.
