What it is tuned for

Flat-background text art where generic subject removers often leave halos, miss dark edges, or flatten fine anti-aliasing.

  • White text on black backgrounds
  • Dark text on white cards or slides
  • Coloured titles on flat poster backgrounds
  • Trim-to-text exports for logos and stickers

Switch between the original, transparent cutout, rendered output, and alpha mask.

Higher values remove more of the flat background. Lower values preserve more edge texture.

Increase this slightly if edges look too harsh. Keep it lower for crisp logo lettering.

Best for banner text

Use the Black Banner preset for YouTube titles, lower thirds, lyric graphics, thumbnail text blocks, and event title slates on solid dark fills.

Useful for logos and badges

Enable trim-to-text when you need a tighter export for logo lockups, sticker-style captions, watermark assets, or reusable transparent typography.

Package your output

ZIP export includes the transparent foreground, a standalone mask, and metadata so designers can hand off the result without reprocessing the image.

Why this tool is separate from the regular background remover

Photo subject removers are trained to isolate people and objects. Text graphics are a different problem: the background is usually flat, the subject is thin, and anti-aliased letter edges need to stay smooth instead of being crushed into a hard mask.

This tool estimates the flat background from the image border, combines colour distance with luminance thresholding, and lets you steer the extraction for dark-on-light or light-on-dark artwork.

Suggested workflow

  1. Start with the closest preset to your artwork.
  2. Generate a preview and inspect the mask if thin strokes look weak.
  3. Raise sensitivity if the flat background still shows through.
  4. Raise edge softness slightly if the letters look too jagged.
  5. Enable trim-to-text only when you want a tighter final canvas.

Text Background Remover FAQ

Flat-background text graphics such as quote cards, banners, logos, social post titles, screenshots, and presentation slides work best.

Yes. Use the Black Banner preset or choose the black background mode manually. That path is the main reason this tool exists.

Yes. Trim-to-text is optional. Leave it off if you want the transparent result to keep the same width and height as the source image.

Download the image for finished use, the mask when you want to composite manually in a design app, or the ZIP when you want the full handoff package.

No. It also works on other flat colours. Use Auto detect for most graphics, or choose a custom background colour when the surrounding fill is known.

Lower sensitivity if letters are losing detail, or raise it if background residue is still visible. Edge softness helps recover smoother anti-aliased edges without over-expanding the mask.
